Bringing Date Night Back in 2018

With 2017 coming to a close, I want to find time in 2018 to really bring back the date night. Me and Scott have found that since we have got older our date nights have withered to nothing. And talking with my mum friends, we aren't alone in the lack of romantic evenings and quality time together. So my mission (along with the other mums!) is to rekindle the date night and make 2018 the year of building quality couple memories.

That doesn't mean posting on Instagram and trying to attain to the #CoupleGoals level we see of our childless friends. I'm trying to be realistic in the sense that we are tired parents that work opposite shifts and would like to spend more than an evening falling asleep together on the couch. I'd love a meal out, cheeky weekend away or even a trip to the cinema together to catch something before it ends up on Netflix!

The one main problem we find as parents is sourcing a babysitter for us to go out. Whilst we are fortunate to have amazing parents and friends that are always on hand to help, it can normally be a bit of a headache to try and co-ordinate it all and find a time that everyone is free. By the time you have all found one date that works, things change and you are back to the drawing board and it's not worth the effort sometimes.

One idea that the school mums and I had over a few drinks was to host slumber parties to enable us to take date nights in turn. By hosting a few of the other children in a fun filled sleepover, you can let everyone else have a fantastic night out and away your turn with glee. I love this idea as you can leave your little ones with close friends if they are unsure of strangers, and you know that someone else is enjoying their night.

On the other hand, using a site such as Sitters.co.uk that helps you find a babysitter is a perfect alternative for those that maybe don't have people at hand to help. I love the way that you can find registered babysitters that have been fully vetted and in your local area. With just the click of a button you can hire a qualified babysitter with advanced notice, or in a few hours to give you a hand. For me, I think it's a great way to know that you can have a babysitter in either a time of need, or just the need to have a nice night out. You can find out more information about it here too!

Whatever way me and Scott end up addressing babysitting for date nights in in 2018, I can't wait to spend more time with him. The days of snoozing on the sofa are over (kind of!) and the nights of putting on a nice dress and dancing the night away are back in. The potentials are endless and I can't wait to plan them.
