Setting resolutions and goals for a year has never taken me this long to write. I think that because I'm in a limbo when it comes to work, that I'm not too sure where to start or what to write. But each year I love writing these posts and then reflecting on them by the end of the year. I always set myself some personal goals, family goals and blogging goals to see what I can dream and achieve. So let's give it a whirl.
Personal Goals
- Lose Weight - losing weight shouldn't be my number one goal. But after joining Slimming World, I feel that spark to really look after my body and get fitter. Whilst reaching my target at Slimming World isn't unfeasible, I would be happy to just get close to it by the end of the year. After losing over 3 stone already, it's amazing to see how much better I feel already.
- Enjoy My New Career - This month is the start of my new job. I'm taking the leap from marketing and heading into a school based environment that is totally out of my comfort zone. But to be honest it's something that I'm super excited for and I honestly can't wait to get my teeth into this career. Not only can I use my volunteering experience, but hopefully I can inspire some young women to go after their dreams.
- Save Money - With the clock ticking on our deadline to buy a house, I'd love to get a huge chuck in my savings account. This year with a proper salary, I'm able to save and sort out the pesky credit card. I just want to feel a bit more financially secure now I'm in a more stable job. Being a freelancer isn't as easy financially as I thought it would be!
- Be In More Photos - Whilst I love taking photos, I'm really never in the photos myself. It makes me sad to think that there's a huge chunk of my life that I'm not in photos and might therefore forget. I'm going to spend more time in front of the lens, and that includes chatting on Instagram Stories too.
- Own My Highs (And Lows) - I want to celebrate my achievements, work through my low points and feel proud of what I've done and where I've come in 2019.
Family Goals
- Explore More - We love using our National Trust passes and seeing what there is on offer in both the UK and overseas when it comes to family friendly activities. Now we have a better routine and know we have weekends free, we can make the most of our time together and see and do more as a family. We want to do holidays, weekends away and see as much of the UK and abroad as we can.
- Enjoy More Theatre And Arts - We are HUGE theatre lovers, and Max has set us a challenge to see at least one show a month. So the challenge is on. I'm also seeing if we can go to festivals and more art galleries this year to see what else there is beyond the theatre doors. What an exciting 2019!
- Unplug More - We are all guilty of spending too much time on technology in our family. Hopefully with more time outside of the house together, we will naturally spend less time on technology. I want us to read more, play more board games and enjoy time with friends and family. Monthly games night? Sounds perfect.
Blogging Goals
- Build Better Brand Partnerships - I love some of the companies and places that I regularly work with, and I want to build and strengthen them even more. Whilst I would love to add more brands to my collection, I'm conscious that I don't want to overload this little corner of the internet, and over the years I've been carving a niche that I love to pieces.
- Get My Writing Published Even More - At the end of 2018, I was lucky to be asked to publish some of my opinion pieces on some national sites. In 2019, I want to increase that and talk more about being a young mum, the issues that young mums face and how the Young Women's Trust are bloody wonderful people!
- Talk More About Volunteering - Whether that's writing about my experiences, sharing my opinion on the radio or helping at events. I want to spread the word about volunteering and get the word out there more. One voice may change the world.
