Mira Ink are a UK Publishers who are looking for a blogger to work for them. I jumped at the opportunity, I love reading and blogging so the idea was perfect. I thought I would share my entry on here. What is a timeless tale you love?

A Timeless Tale
There is something to be said about a book that you can’t put down. There is something even greater about one you want pick up again and again.
I have never managed to pinpoint the one reason as to why I have those handfuls of books I will never let go. The ones that I feel I am tied to with imaginary chains of love.  The ones that have tatty pages, and spines broken in so many places that they just can’t stay shut even with ten other books on top. They just resonate with me in a way that no other books have done.
My love for books began when I was little; so little that just looking at pictures was all I knew.  Where The Wild Things Are took me to a magical place of imagination, where I could be queen of all the wild things and dance the wild rumpus.
When I was fifteen, I picked up a book called ‘The Perks Of Being A Wallflower’. To be honest it was the cover that lured me in. I’m a sucker for a pretty book cover. I read that book in one sitting, and then I started it again as soon as I turned the last page.
Being a fifteen year old is tough and I found it quite hard to fit in and socialise. I preferred to have my head stuck in a book. Characters are the key things for me. If I don’t find them interesting or find a connection then it’s hard for me to enjoy the book.  Especially as an adolescent that is trying to rebel against her parents, finding a character you relate to can really make things easier.
Reading the letters Charlie wrote felt like reading something I could have written myself. There was something about the way that Charlie wrote the letters, he seemed to care more about pleasing everyone else and all he wanted to do was to feel like he had friends. People that understood him and people that made him feel at home in himself. It was what I wanted; friends that made me feel like I meant something.
A great story makes me read a book again and again. With Perks I found that the story came hand in hand with the characters, what they were experiencing was what I was too. In some way my journey was linked with theirs and that we were all at a crossroads in our lives. Even seven years later, I still read the same words I’ve read over and over and I feel like the story still applies.
Books will always be around; no matter how you read them a story is a story. Everyone will find that one book you want to read over and pass onto the world. It may not be the next Dickens or Austen but it doesn’t have to be. There will always be that one book that is timeless to you.
