Christchurch Food Festival 2017

We are really fortunate to live in a place that has so many things going on. This weekend was the Christchurch Food Festival. Christchurch is about 15 minute drive away from us and one of our favourite places to go in the summer, mainly because it's so beautiful. The food festival has been running for 18 years and is one of the towns yearly highlights.

One thing that we love about this festival is it's free. From big name chefs giving demonstrations, to lots of local businesses selling their food and giving out samples, there is literally something for everyone. They close down the whole of the high street, plan it in a way that you can sample everything and head down through the Priory and towards the quay for fun and games all day.

We knew it was going to be a busy day so headed down for just gone 10am to grab some late breakfast and have a wander before it got too busy. Max having eyes bigger than his belly, decided he wanted a banana and Nutella crepe for breakfast and absolutely devoured it! So much for always sharing food with mummy (Oh wait, it's the other way around isn't it...).

We then had a wander around the stalls, picking up sweet treats that we really didn't need and trying all the cheese that I could cram into my body. I was on the lookout for some local honey as I've been told it will help my hay fever. Alas, there was none to be found, but marshmallow is just as good!

One of the food highlights was the rocky road by Ridiculously Rich. It's the baking business by Alana Spencer of Apprentice winner fame. Scott was a bit chuffed and kept rubbing it in how good the grub was as he betted on her winning! Yet he was far too shy (and slightly drunk) so never said anything.

We met up with loads of friends throughout the day, enjoyed some great music and let Max run wild. With it being so local and relaxed, we knew he would be safe playing in our favourite park whilst we sat watching him with snacks and drinks in hand.

Christchurch Food Festival is one of our favourite foodie events of the year and now we can't wait for the next one!
