There's nothing better than a catch up with the girls. A moment where you can sit back, relax and talk without the kids screaming or taking our full attention. Me and the school mums are a close bunch and we love to go out and have lunch together. With September came a new baby, new school starters and finally being back into a routine. So when TGI Fridays invited us to celebrate, we jumped at the chance to have a fab lunch out.
TGI Fridays in Bournemouth is based in the new BH2 complex and looks like a little bit of luxury in the town centre. Kitted out in an industrial theme with plenty of touches to their American roots, TGI's is honestly gorgeous (think Instagram worthy!). With 5 adults and one child, we were seated in one of their round booths which gave us plenty of space for the pram alongside the table.
TGI Fridays pride themselves on making a fantastic range of authentic American foods using bold flavours and taking you on a taste adventure. Their pride is their legendary Jack Daniels sauce that has the perfect amount of heat and flavour for any dish. By mixing a fantastic food range with a drinks menu to please everyone, it's a perfect place to go for a lunch date or evening cocktails.
After being introduced to the new menu by our friendly server, we couldn't wait to tuck into the food and drinks. After running around after the kids on a school morning, a hearty lunch is exactly what we needed. We all opted to select something off one of their set menus as it's fantastic value for money. With three price bands of their set menus, there is something for every budget and taste.
Having a child with us, we chose to have Milly's food given with our starters. This meant that she could pick at it whilst we tucked into our dishes. She went for a hotdog with some veggie sticks off their set menu. The staff were fantastic and handed Milly a balloon animal upon arrival and a craft pack to fill out whilst eating. These little touches really made the meal for her, and she loved getting the attention from our fantastic server.
I went for a starter of Jack Daniels chicken strips (along with all the others- let's face it, they are the must have starters!) which is breaded chicken strips marinaded in Jack Daniels sauce. Alongside is a pot of the famous Jack Daniels dipping sauce that is perfect for dunking the chicken strips in. Honestly they are so good, I could probably eat a bowl of those all night! In fact, we are planning on doing one of their bottomless starters for our next girls night out.
Onto the mains and whilst the others tucked into burgers and hot dogs, some of us opted for the ribs. Whenever I go out for something to eat, I try and pick something that I wouldn't cook at home, and ribs are definitely on that list. Adding to that, anything that is smothered in the Jack Daniels sauce is a winner in my books (it never tastes as good as the stuff you can buy in the shop!). The ribs themselves were cooked to perfection and really hit the spot with all of us wolfing them down without much time to take a breath.
The others had nothing but praise for their dishes too and we spent the whole time deciding if we could turn this into a monthly thing as our meals were just that good! The food was delicious, hot and cooked perfectly. Not only that, but the food came out so fast that we weren't sat around waiting impatiently, but we still had enough time to gossip and enjoy ourselves.
Of course you can't go out for food without having dessert. With all of us fit to burst, we decided to go for something that we could share. The brownie sharing dish was perfect, with two scoops of ice cream and triangles of brownie smothered in chocolate sauce, it really tipped us over the edge and filled the last of the space in our stomachs!
We had an amazing time at TGI Fridays and couldn't fault their food or service. And with our bill coming to just over £100 for our food and drinks (for 5 adults and one child) I can honestly say it's amazing value for money too. To be perfectly honest, this meal has been the talk of the school playground since we went and we really can't wait to get back there.
Thank you so much TGI Fridays for helping us celebrate not only getting back into a school routine, but also for celebrating our friendships. We'll see you soon!
