Kingston Lacy House at Christmas

With the mad rush before Christmas, we didn't get any of our usual traditions ticked off the bucket list. So when we suggested with our friends that we all head to Kingston Lacy to check out the decorations on New Year's Day, we all couldn't wait.

Kingston Lacy is a National Trust property just outside of Wimborne, Dorset and is our local National Trust property. It's somewhere we visit on a regular basis with our friends and we definitely get our money's worth from our passes in visits to Kingston Lacy alone.

Kingston Lacy house was a country house and estate owned by the Bankes family up until it was handed to the National Trust in 1982. Since then it's been constantly open to show visitors how the house looked in a period setting.

Throughout Christmas, Kingston Lacy was decked out with decorations throughout the garden and the house. I've hear so many good things about the decorations inside the Kingston Lacy house. unfortunately we went during the day so we missed out on seeing the lights in the garden as it just wasn't dark enough. Nevertheless, I was excited to see what the decorations inside the house looked like and I wasn't disappointed.

Decked out in decorations that I could only dream of, the house had a total Escape To The Chateau vibe going on which I absolutely loved. I'm currently a bit obsessed with the show and this transported me to a grand house of my dreams. With flowers winding down the stairs to hundreds of hand crafted paper flowers nestled in a Christmas tree, it was absolutely gorgeous.

Max loved walking around the house and finding out about the bits of history that related to the building. He's always loved finding out about how things worked and how things have changed. Luckily the staff on hand are not only very knowledgeable, they are also happy to chat and kept Max amused whilst I snapped away.

Every year the house is decorated differently, and I was head over heels with the art deco touches and the dainty ornaments that sat in each tree. To have a tree decked out like this would be a dream, but let's face it my Disney tree also brings me heaps of joy too!

I honestly loved walking around the house, and despite not seeing it until after the festivities were over, it still gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling that Christmas activities can bring you. I honestly can't wait to pop into the house over the coming year to see what other events they set up for. It was a perfect end to the Christmas holidays.
