Summer Events at Wyevale Garden Centres

Finding cheap things to keep the kids amused with in the summer holidays can be a real headache. It either costs a bomb, involves copious amounts of technology or leaves your house looking like a bomb site. That's where Wyevale Garden Centre comes into play with their Summer Holiday Events. We were kindly invited to attend one of their crafting events and their afternoon tea at one of our local centres to get out of the bad weather and have some fun.

Fair Oak Wyevale is situated not too far from Marwell Zoo between Winchester and Eastleigh. We were pleased to find that there was ample parking for us and it was well signposted. There was a fab aquatics centre on site that the kids spent a good half hour walking around looking at all the fish trying to find Nemo!

We were a tad disappointed to find that the soft play facility on site was closed due to flooding, something that wasn't highlighted on the website. But after consoling a couple of a sad kids, they soon became excited to get stuck into the activities at hand.

The first event that we went to was their Potty For Bees event. Max brought his friend Rubi along and they made some adorable bee themed flower pots and then filled them with soil and seeds to plant at home. Whilst we don't have a garden, Max is going to pop his over at his nannies house so he can tend to them for her.

Whist a tad fiddly to do (which definitely had us parents doing half the work!), the kids absolutely loved spending an hour putting these together and putting their own artistic flair on it. For an extra charge, you could add on a lunch for the kids, but we decided to take them elsewhere due to the soft play being closed.

A few days later, me and Max headed back with our friends Helen and Max from Mummy To The Max. This time we went for afternoon tea with Buzzy Bee which included meals for us adults as well as a hot meal for the kids. When we turned up, there was a gorgeous yellow table set up ready for the kids to get stuck in to some amazing activities.

As we sat down, the staff brought over a gorgeous afternoon tea set for me and Helen, whilst the boys got stuck into chicken nuggets and chips. Our lovely host came over and introduced herself and took the boys off to go hunting for bee clues around the garden centre. The kids absolutely loved it and we loved having a quiet time for a catch up and gossip.

Upon returning, the kids got stuck into creating bee cakes, making bee night lights and fashioning bee headbands. Whilst they sat up one end of the table, we could hear them laughing with glee and telling us not to look at their masterpieces whilst they were making them.

The host was absolutely fantastic at keeping the kids entertained and they came away talking about how much fun they had. A fantastic afternoon keeping the kids busy! Thanks Wyevale
