From the West End to your Front Door - Musicals on Tour

Whilst I love visiting the bright city lights in London, there is something brilliant about seeing those big name shows on your front door. 2021 and beyond brings some absolutely show stopping musicals to local theatres, so not only is it more accessible for all, there's no excuse to not see that show. Here is a round up of some of those that I think you can't miss.

The Book Of Mormon - A musical that is quite dear to my heart (hello getting engaged after seeing it!), The Book Of Mormon is a rip-roaring laugh along that will have every adult in the audience crying with laughter. From the creators of South Park, this musical has taken the world by storm and rightly so. Whilst it is very out there with it's humour and cross over to the offensive every now and then, it's a musical that deserves the 9 Tony Award wins. On a UK tour including Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester and Southampton, it's one not to miss!

Chicago - One of those timeless musicals that I can never tire of watching, Chicago is full of razzle-dazzle and sequins galore. It's one of those musicals that has you toe tapping and singing "He had it coming". With big show stopping numbers and characters that you love, hate and love to hate, this musical is perfect for when you want to paint your town red. With shows all over the UK including Nottingham, Oxford, Plymouth and Sheffield, it's time for all that jazz.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie - Jamie is the story of Jamie New, a boy that longs to grace the stage as a drag queen. But at only 16, Jamie faces hurdles, walls and mountains to get where he truly wants to be. With the help of some drag veterans, he finds his confidence and finds the glitter in the grey. It's a show that I absolutely adored, and with Bianca Del Rio gracing the stage in some performances, it's one to not miss! Venues in this tour include Salford, Bristol, Woking and Liverpool.

Hairspray - You can't stop the beat as you meet the nicest kids in town! Hairspray is the 60's musical that has you twisting, jiving and dancing all the way to the theatre. This show is running in London consecutively whilst touring the UK so there is no excuse to not see the happiest show in town! Kicking off in Plymouth, this tour visits towns such as Ipswich, Aylesbury and Bradford.

Heathers - This high energy black comedy based on the film of the same name is off on a small tour following a west end residency. It's a show with a cult following that is perfect for late teens who want a musical full of angst. I'm hoping to pop to London and see it at some point if I get a spare moment and it's top on my wish list. Heathers is only heading to four venues so far on this tour including Liverpool and Birmingham.

Les Miserables - Do you hear the people sing? Well you should do as Les Miserables is heading to town, and not just any town, most likely your town! This legendary musical based on the classic Victor Hugo tale and will let you dream a dream for one day more. Whilst not the cheapest musical to see on tour, it's most definitely worth every penny and you'll be in for a show to remember. Les Mis is showing at venues such as Dublin, Milton Keynes, Canterbury, and Cardiff.

School of Rock - School of Rock has to be one of our favourite musicals of recent times. It's a perfect musical for all of the family to enjoy and one that will leave you thinking whether you went to a musical or a rock concert at the end of it. With show stopping hits such as Stick It To The Man and Teacher's Pet, you'll be rocking along with Dewey Finn and the gang. Rocking out at venues such as Bournemouth, Crawley, Aberdeen, and Dartford and other venues near you!

Six - Divorced. Beheaded. Died. Divorced. Beheaded. Survived. We all know the classic rhyme of Henry's wives. But what if we didn't know the true stories of these powerhouse women? This reimagining of the queens we know from the history books is the perfect show for families, teens and everyone in between. They're one of a kind, no category and you can catch these inspirational badass women in towns such as Canterbury, Brighton and Bromley.

Waitress- Opening up in cities such as Sunderland, Manchester and Bristol, this all American tale follows Jenna, a waitress trying to find her way in her humble town. With brilliant, catchy songs and a story that will fill your heart with joy, this show is a romantic comedy that is a brilliant treat for all.
