The Choir of Man 2025 Review - London

The Arts Theatre, London is by far the most perfect venue to host The Jungle, the fictional pub that sets the scene for our show. The Choir of Man is a high energy, feel good show that reminds you that there is no place like the local pub.

Currently in it's final run before embarking on a UK tour, the nine Jungle regulars are ready to have one last round and raise one final glass.

The Choir of Man is a show like no other. With a real bar built into the stage where audience members can buy drinks and step onto a west end stage before taking their seats. Cast members weave around the stage, interacting with the audience to really set the tone for what a show it will be. This immersive element brings warmth and intimacy to the show, breaking the fourth wall and giving the audience members a safe space for what's to come.

The show is opened by The Poet (Paul McArthur) introducing the venue, himself, and giving an idea of whats to come. He lets the audience know that whilst most pubs have their own darts team, or football team, The Jungle has it's own choir. This choir forms a safe space to sing and talk about vulnerabilities and mental health in a way that no other could.

Each character fits an archetypal role. From The Romantic, to The Joker, each character's story is woven throughout the show and you learn that initial perceptions of people aren't what they seem. Each character helps question the stereotypical views we may have and we see true personalities, stories, and breaking down of societal labels.

The songs throughout the show are beautifully woven and brilliant interpretations of classic hits. From the hilarious rendition of '500 Miles' to the heartbreaking version of 'Dance With My Father', the show peels back layers of vulnerability and hilarity to entertain throughout. I adored the way the band wove through the show and the technical intricacies of some songs were pure perfection. The closing accapella version of "The Parting Glass is a true wonder that brings a tear to your eye.

The Choir of Man is a show that allows audience members to participate. From inviting members on stage, to allowing you to take short video clips and photos. The show breaks the traditional conventions of a west end musical and truly allows for something that connects stage and audience. It's a show that stands the test of time and truly warms your heart. The pub might bring people together, but this show allows strangers to become friends in this joyous 90 minutes.
