Romeo and Juliet, the story of two star crossed lovers caught in a family rivalry but ready to do whatever it takes to be together. That may be the story that we all know, but Matthew Bourne's New Adventures adaptation of this classic tale is far more dark, disturbing and hauntingly beautiful. I went along to the Mayflower in Southampton to see for myself how this Shakespearian story of love and fate had been adapted for a new audience of ballet fans.

Calendar Girls The Musical Review - Bournemouth Pavilion
Thursday, 19 September 2019
When the original Calendar Girls took to the headlines over 20 years ago, I don't think they would have ever imagined that their story would be turned into a heart warming film, let alone a toe tapping musical. But that's exactly what has happened and it's a show and story that has won over the hearts of people around the world. We were invited along to watch it at the Bournemouth Pavilion courtesy of BHLive and let me tell you it was a show to remember.

An Inspector Calls UK Tour Review - Mayflower
Wednesday, 18 September 2019
An Inspector Calls is a play that I remember reading whilst at school. To be fair, it's one that has graced the tables of generations of senior school students in the run up to their GCSE exams. One that seems to have stuck with me to the extent that the students at the school I currently work at are learning it too. The tale about gender, class and how actions have consequences has taken to the stage at the Mayflower, Southampton so I took a work friend and popped along to transport myself back in time.

Hot on it's UK tour at the moment, it's just landed in Southampton at the Mayflower and we were invited along to watch it and boy was it a show that packed a punch!
