Bowling For Soup - Bournemouth 02 Academy

Bowling for Soup are a band that take me back to my teenage years. Having formed 28 years ago, this band have truly stood the test of time and are arguably masters of their craft. They are currently on their Surf the UK tour all around the UK and came to Bournemouth to show the sunny seaside town how to party like they've never partied before.

This tour they brought their pals The DollyRots, Matt Stocks on DJ duties and the legends that are Lit along for the ride. We decided to bring our own buddy in the shape of Max who was beyond excited to see a band that he absolutely loves on stage. Heading to the Bournemouth O2 Academy, Boscombe, we couldn't wait to rock out.

Calendar Girls The Musical Review - Bournemouth Pavilion

When the original Calendar Girls took to the headlines over 20 years ago, I don't think they would have ever imagined that their story would be turned into a heart warming film, let alone a toe tapping musical. But that's exactly what has happened and it's a show and story that has won over the hearts of people around the world. We were invited along to watch it at the Bournemouth Pavilion courtesy of BHLive and let me tell you it was a show to remember.

A Family Day out In Bournemouth

We are some of the fortunate ones to live in Bournemouth. With an award winning sea on one side of the town and a brilliant forest on the other, it's easy to see why it's such a fantastic tourist destination all year round. But whilst there are lots of chain restaurants and obvious things to do for families, we wanted to showcase some of the ways we love to enjoy a day together in our hometown. For those coming further afield, there are plenty of hotels in Bournemouth to suit everyone's budgets. But here's what we got up to during one day in Bournemouth.

Big Fish Little Fish Bournemouth

Before we had Max, we were the stereotypical students. Going on nights out, drinking a little bit too much and staying out all night eating some dodgy chips as we stumble back to someones house. Having Max in the middle of uni put an abrupt stop to that. But we've swapped nights out for family festivals, and much more kid centric events. That's not to say we can't have some fun, so we joined Big Fish Little Fish over at the Old Fire Station, Bournemouth to get stuck into their family friendly rave!

Prezzo La Famiglia- The Perfect Family Meal

We love eating meals out, there's something different and special about eating in a restaurant. Not only do you get to leave the washing up, you have that time as a family to sit down, relax and chat. We tend to unplug and leave our phones in our bags, chat and reconnect as a family.

One problem we tend to find when eating out is that meal sizes are normally all over the place. Scott can eat more than me, Max tends to pick and choose how much he wants and we are normally left with eating each others meals. Prezzo have created a dish for moments like this. The La Famiglia.

Ask Italian BH2 Bournemouth

Nothing beats finding a restaurant that ticks all the boxes. Fantastic food, gorgeous design and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay there forever. I was recently invited to the opening of the new Ask Italian at the BH2 complex in Bournemouth and I couldn't wait to immerse myself in a dining experience I wouldn't forget in a hurry.

Odeon BH2 Review

I love going to the cinema. It's one of those experiences that adds a bit of luxury to your night out. Nothing beats sitting in comfy seats and being entertained by the greats on a massive screen. So when I was invited to the press night of the new Odeon BH2 complex, I filled out the RSVP before I even knew any of details and invited my work friend Louise without her knowing!

Woodland Walks with Saltrock

We are fortunate to live in an area that has both an abundance of beaches and forests areas. It means that we can go on any type of adventure we feel like and discover something new. This year we have challenged ourself to try and explore as much of our local area as possible. So when Saltrock approached us recently to blog about one of our favourite woodland adventures, we couldn't wait to jump in the car and whisk ourselves away.

Things to see in Bournemouth this Christmas

We love Christmas in our house. Not only do we get to spend time together, buy gifts and see family, but there's always so much going on. I'm always a bit gutted when I realise things have happened and we missed the chance to see them. Here's some things happening in the Bournemouth and Poole area that aren't to be missed! I've we've headed down or been to watch it then I'll be sure to list the review's below.

Things To Do

Bournemouth Oceanarium

Ever since Max was little we have always had an annual pass for a local attraction. For many years it was the Oceanarium, but we took a change last year. This year we decided to return to our roots and head back for another annual pass.

There is something magical about watching Max around the fish. Once he races around at top speed he takes time to sit and watch them, almost hypnotically, bringing a sense of calm over him that we don't see many other places.

He's constantly asking questions about the fish, sharks and turtles with fascination and it's a great hands on way for him to learn about the environment with interactive features. There's some great hands on things to do and learn for the kids and they are in the process of adding a penguin enclosure this summer meaning that the place will be even more exciting!

The best thing about the Oceanarium is that you can return at any point in the day to watch all the different feeding sessions meaning that your money spent is well worth it. If you haven't caught the otters being fed then it's definitely recommended. We love the Oceanarium and can't wait to spend the rest of the year visiting.
