Simple World Book Day Costume

World Book Day, a day that us booksellers love, but parents hate. Being caught in the two I find that I love coming up with great things for Max to dress up as, but it does get tedious as a working mum to find the time to craft something.

This year, Max's school came up with the inventive idea of coming in dressed as a noun or verb, with a prize for the most innovative in each category. Max being Max decided that the challenge was too easy and wanted to do the both of them. I mean what World Book Day costume can I come up with that involves a verb and a noun...

A Protesting Crayon!

World Book Day

It's World Book Day today, the celebration of children's literature and all things book related. Most kids will be going to school today, dressed as their favourite characters and embracing the world of books. These kids will also be given the wonderful £1 voucher. This gives them the chance to go to their local bookshop and trade it in for a wonderful WBD book or money off a book of their choice.

Not only that but WBD are hosting the Biggest Book Show On Earth. A wealth of virtual workshops for classrooms, kids and adults to enjoy and learn how to create their own stories and tales.

This year I have put my sewing kit away and embraced the bought costume. We've had a hectic year so when we were offered a costume from the range at George At Asda we jumped at the opportunity. Max is starting to love Where's Wally and hide and seek books so this seemed like the best option for us and let's just say he looks mighty cute! He's been wearing the costume almost every day since we got it earlier in the week and its been such hard wearing for a fancy dress outfit that we are definitely going to grab more for our dressing up box!
