Papergang Subscription Box

I am a stationary addict. I work in a shop where I spend most of my evenings creating stationary displays. I buy far too many notebooks because they are pretty. So when Papergang came up on my radar I had to get involved!

Papergang is a monthly stationary subscription box by the gang over at Ohh Dear. Ohh Dear are an amazing company that focus on quirky illustrated gifts. There is literally something for everyone on there and I'm constantly browsing for gift ideas. Ohh Dear collaborate with fantastic artists to make exclusive products that are wonderful and different.

The box itself retails at £9.95 which is a fantastic price for some exclusive stationary bits and pieces. The box arrived promptly and was packaged in a brightly coloured slip case. The outer packaging has an awesome origami animal to make (that I've not attempted yet!).

Inside, the box was beautifully packaged and branded and the contents made me squeal with excitement! There was a gorgeous little patch that I'm sewing onto Max's denim jacket as he adores it. Two brilliant greetings cards, one by the wonderful Gemma Correll that already has the perfect recipient and a great raccoon one by Jamie Mitchell which is already framed on our wall. I love the two prints that came in the box and the pineapple one is already above my desk. My favourite thing has to be the note pad. I'm constantly using notepads and this one is gorgeous and makes me smile whenever I use it!

I absolutely loved this month's box and I can't wait for next months! It's a little bit of happy each month.

After School Treat With Newton's Appl Fizzics

Max, like all kids loves sweet treats. I'm always reluctant to cave in and when I do it tends to only be something like a small sweet or some lemonade. I'm always on the lookout for alternatives for those perfect after school treats, and I think I've found one!

Newton's Appl Fizzics are a refreshing, lightly fizzy apple drink. Made with just apple juice and sparkling water, this drink packs less than 40% sugar than juice on it's own and doesn't have a trace of any nasty preservatives and artificial ingredients.

I'm a fan of anything that's low in sugar but high in flavour, knowing that Max can have a treat and not be filling himself with nasties is fantastic. Max absolutely loved these drinks and told me they were better than the other fizzy apple drinks he had tried! We filled up glasses with ice and poured over the drinks, Max felt really grown up with it being in a bottle.

I loved how refreshing they tasted and it reminded me of a light apple cider. I'm not a heavy drinker and prefer soft drinks so will definitely buy these for myself as a non alcoholic alternative (if Max doesn't drink them first).

Newton's Appl Fizzics are just launching and at present are only available on Amazon. They are the perfect spring/summer drink and we're definitely stocking up before bbq season hits! Thanks Newton's for sending us some fantastic treats.

Room DVD review and giveaway

About 4 years ago I picked up a copy of Room by Emma Donoghue on recommendation by a colleague. I didn't really know what to expect from it as I normally immerse myself in the world of teen fiction. Let's just say that book was a bit life changing, it changed my perspective on how a child views the world and has really helped me understand the world from Max's eyes.

Room is the tale of Jack and Ma. Jack is 5 and lives in Room with Ma, they don't go outside and Room is all that Jack knows. They are being held captive by Old Nick and have no means of escape. Until Ma comes up with a plan to get them out of there. It's a heart wrenching tale that really makes you frustrated, angry and emotional all at the same time.

When I heard that it was being made into a film I was apprehensive, I tend to always err on the side of caution when it comes to adaptations as you invest so much in a book that you don't want the film makers to get it wrong. Fortunately the author was on hand to make sure the adaptation was as true to the book as it can be and let's just say I was blown away.

I don't get to the cinema much now I'm a mum. I work evenings and finding a time to go out is trickier than a Rubiks Cube. So when I was offered the opportunity to review the DVD release I couldn't say yes fast enough.

The film itself is award winning along with the main actors and I can definitely see why. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay have an amazing on screen relationship and you can truly see that they care deeply for each other. Jacob Tremblay is amazing at playing Jack, it's a difficult character as he is so full of innocence about the world. There was never any moment where the illusion was shattered, same with Brie. Her portrayal was award winning, being stuck in a room for 7 years would drive anyone to the edge but she played it perfectly.

I came away from the film filled with loads of emotions. It was an amazing depiction that I've been chatting about non stop with to anyone I know. Fortunately for one of my readers I have a copy to give away too! Just follow the Rafflecopter instructions below and good luck!

Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg?

We are massive movie fans, with Scott being an aspiring scriptwriter and Max wanting to YouTube his life it makes sense that we surround ourselves with films of all shapes and sizes. The boys are even in the process of making their own at the moment (I'm the camera person apparently!) which is exciting.

So when we heard that one of Scott's scriptwriting pals was making a children's movie with another scriptwriter, we couldn't wait to watch it. What was created was Who Killed Nelson Nutmeg? A whodunnit live action kids film.

The story is set locally in a holiday park in Dorset called Nelson's Retreat. There you find four friends who are growing a bit too old for the antics of loveable Nelson Nutmeg, the parks squirrel mascot. That is until Billie of them witnesses Nelson being pushed off the cliff by an unknown killer. The race is on for Billie and the gang to crack the mystery and work out who really killed Nelson Nutmeg.

We absolutely loved this film, Max roared with laughter the whole way through at the fun and games they got up to. Scott loved the clever twists in the plot that reminded us of a classic Scooby Doo tale whilst I loved the filming. They managed to capture the Dorset coast perfectly and the intrigue of the mystery at a child's level. It's a great blend of Scooby and the Famous Five but with a modern twist.

The cast was pretty spot on with a host of child actors hailing from the local area. There's a special appearance from Bonnie Wright (Ginny from Harry Potter) as the suspicious Diane who is the main suspect! I think the kids did brilliantly considering they navigated the film and we loved the live action aspect as it made the story relatable compared to the masses of animation that there is out there. It's definitely inspired Max to go outdoors and solve some mysteries!

Because the film is partly crowd funded and partly self funded, there is no nationwide cinema release. But we managed to secure our tickets through OurScreen that lets you create your own screenings of films. They have a host of south coast screenings already booking now so if there's one local to you I would definitely snap up some tickets, if not then grab some friend's and request a screening!

Luckily I was able to catch a few words with Tim Clague, one of the directors and writers of the film and ask him a few quick questions about how it was made.

We absolutely loved the film, but in a world dominated by children's animation, what made you pick a children's live action film to make?

Well the very real answer is that we can't draw or do animation. So we had to do live-action! However, we were pleased it worked out like that really as we genuinely felt that we could stand out from the crowd and offer something different to parents and children in the UK. There aren't many chances for British kids to see themselves represented on the big screen.

The film really reminded us of an updated Famous Five adventure and we loved the mystery element. Were there any other films and shows that were influences?

We were also influenced by films like The Goonies from the 80s. And then going back to the Children's Film Foundation films in the 60s and 70s. I remember seeing those projected from a 16mm print in my school hall on the last day before the summer holiday. Even though the film wasn't amazing by today's standards, we all loved it! It was the exciting and infectious feeling of watching it together. We also like the slightly bonkers and exaggerated characters from the work of the Coen Brothers and films like The Burbs, so we tried to bring that in too.

The film was part funded through Kickstarter. What made you decide to crowdfund?

We had no official funding for this film so we needed to raise money somehow. We had some money ourselves and some from local investors who we'd worked with in the past. Kickstarter was our only way really of reaching out to find that additional funding. But it worked out really well as it helped us generally reach out into the community and tell people about the movie early on.

The casting was fantastic. We loved the kids as they really captured the fun of the holidays. Did you have any difficulties finding a cast?

We didn't have any specific difficulties, but that was because we knew it would take a lot of time and effort. We had a 6 month plan to hold the auditions. We knew we would hold them in the early summer and that we wanted to spread the word about it as wide as possible. We put some adverts in magazines like the Primary Times, which only comes out quarterly. So that meant we wrote the advert in February. So as early as February we were planning for the first round of auditions in June. That gave us lots of time to speak to stage schools and other organisations as well. If we hadn't planned ahead then we wouldn't probably have found that great local cast.

Have you got any plans to make any more live action kids films?

Yes is the short answer. Next up is a Christmas movie for the whole family called "Who Kidnapped Santa Christmas?". And we've also teamed up with the guys behind CBBC's "Dixie" to help them produce a spooky movie for children called "Out of Season"

Finally, can you pitch this film to parents in less than ten words?

You could describe it as  "Four kids solve a murder mystery during their summer holiday"

Geocaching

We've recently discovered Geocaching thanks to the wonderful ladies over at My Two Mums. Geocaching is one big worldwide treasure hunt. People hide little treasures over towns and cities leaving clues for people to find. It's something that we have thrown ourselves into massively.

We love Geocaching, it enables us to go outdoors and discover new open areas in the place we love and live. We can take 10 minutes out of our day and find one on the walk home from school or we can take an afternoon finding a huge trail of them that a kind person has left. The app allows you to see what is in the area, the difficulty of the cache and enables you to log when you have found them.

It's a perfect way for families to unplug and spend time together. We love that we only need to use our phones for navigation and that we work together as a family to achieve something as a team.

Now than ever is the best time to start geocaching as a family. The weather is picking up and the evenings are lighter. Time to unplug and unwind in a classic spot of treasure hunting.

My Two Mums have also set up #geocachingkidsuk on Instagram, a community that brings together families that Geocache in the UK. We can't wait to join in.

Thomas & Friends Start Your Engines DVD Review

Thomas has hit our screens once again! This time in a new DVD and we were lucky enough to receive a copy to review.

Thomas & Friends Start Your Engines is a DVD packed with six never seen before episodes. As with all Thomas & Friends DVD's, each episode is jam packed with high speed action to keep each and every fan hooked. I love that between each episode there are moments of trivia, games and the Fat Controller keeping the kids attention.

Max absolutely loved that all the episodes were brand new and the DVD has been on loop constantly throughout the Easter Holidays. I love the fact that each episode showcases some of the other engines, whilst we love Thomas and he's our number 1 we do love it when an episode has everyone else in it too!

It's a fantastic DVD which is great for a weekend afternoon playing along with our train sets. Check out the trailer below and don't forget to pick it up!

#TeamThomas and Trackmaster Review

Thomas is still one of our favourite characters and you may have seen our trip to the Watercress Line to see him recently. So when we were invited to join #TeamThomas and review the new Trackmaster set a test drive we couldn't refuse. We were also sent the new Thomas & Friends DVD to review which can be found over here.

We were sent a Thomas & Friends playset. This Trackmaster set is called the Close Call Cliff set and works on a loop track. This is smaller than the other Trackmasters sets we have which is great as we can set it up in the lounge so Max can play whilst watching the DVD.

As with all Trackmaster sets, the instructions are really easy to follow and all the pieces are lettered and numbered so you don't feel like you need a degree to put it together. Within less than 5 minutes it was set up and ready to go. It's perfect as there's no fiddly ties and bits of plastic that leave parent's tearing their hair out.

As Thomas loops around this track he climbs up the steep cliff. As he reaches the top he has to do some tight turns to avoid falling off the cliff, which in the process knocks off some of the rocks. It's such a great little playset that keeps Max occupied for ages. I love that fact that all the Trackmaster sets are interchangeable so we can create our own amazing track for the trains to run on.

Top Family Festivals on the South Coast

We absolutely love festivals as a family. Max has been immersed in the music and fun since before he was even born as I went to many a festival pregnant. Since then we've been to big festivals and small local ones, Max loving every minute of the experience. Here's my list of some of the best ones on the south coast.

Common People - Set in Southampton Common, Common People is a relatively new festival. This years lineup includes Craig David and Duran Duran, which is sure to get everyone up and dancing. Whilst this isn't a camping festival, it does have a circus, knitting tent and a kids area that will have you and the family begging to stay!

Camp Bestival - This award winning family festival has cracked the formula for something for all the family. For the grown up's there's acts such as Fatboy Slim and Tears For Fears and the kid's have a choice of Lazytown and Aliens Love Underpants. One of my personal favourites is the poetry and spoken word tent where you can sit back and relax. This years theme is Outer Space and everyone is encouraged to dress up!

Victorious Fest - With Manic Street Preachers and Noel Gallagher headlining, Victorious is an amazing festival for the price of a ticket. Whilst they haven't fully announced the kids lineup, in previous years they have had traditional seaside shows and soft play buses to keep the kids more than occupied in this great festival. It's based in Southsea seafront, which is beautiful in itself.

Butserfest - One of the more edgier and alternative festivals on the list. Butserfest prides itself on being completely alcohol free. Whilst for some parents that might be the deciding factor, we've absolutely loved our experiences there. The line up mainly consists of alternative bands and they are yet to announce the headliners, but in the past have included Don Broco and Kids In Glass Houses. The kids area, whilst relatively small is packed with inflatables, games and activities to keep them all amused.

Larmer Tree - Set in beautiful Victorian gardens on the Wiltshire/Dorset borders, this is definitely one of the quirkiest festivals on the list. The music line up includes Tom Odell and Jamie Cullen, but the kids corner is where the festival comes alive for families. Not only is Mr Bloom putting on a fantastic show, but there is a wealth of craft sessions to make even the most little of Larmers have bucketfuls of fun.

Isle Of Wight - With a stellar line up including The Who, Queen and Faithless, this festival is one that packs a punch. With a great mix of stuff for the adults, there's a great kids area with acts such as the Science Museum and the Ryde Extreme Performers. There's more than enough to keep the whole family amused.

Spring Week at Wyevale Garden Centres

We love a good craft event, anything that gets kids messy and having fun is good in my books. And if we don't have to clean up it's even better! Wyevale Garden Centres are well known for hosting great family friendly events and we were recently invited to their Spring Week activities.

We invited Max's best pal (and girlfriend) Rubi with us as she's the craftiest kid we know. For £5 per child they were shown how to create chocolate nests with a jelly treat, an activity sheet with a spring theme and unlimited squash to keep them hydrated as they worked.

We opted for the morning session and were amazed to find the kids were the only two taking part (I think it's because the session did start pretty early!). It was a blessing in disguise as the kids can really be kids and it meant that there were minimal distractions. They had their own table and it was set up beautifully.

Whilst the process was extremely messy, the staff were amazing with showing the kids exactly how to crumble the wheat and mix the chocolate in (with their hands!). I need to thank the staff at this point for allowing the kids to make a mess, all I can say is that I'm glad we weren't doing it at home.

There were bowls everywhere with little treats to add to the nexts once they had been scooped in the cases. The kids loved arranging the wiggly worms and the eggs. They even hid a layer of chocolate coins at the bottom of each case for an extra chocolatey treat. Whilst the staff took them off to the fridge to set. The kids set about on their activity sheets, colouring the takeaway boxes (for the cakes) and eating the leftover mixture. Even Scott took a lick of a spoon!

For the price of the event, I was amazed at how much the kids managed to do for the money. Not only did they make cakes and do some activities, they had an absolute blast. Helped by the wonderful staff that made them feel extra special. I know that Wyevale host a mixture of great events across the year and we will definitely be coming back! Thank you Wyevale for the opportunity, it was such a great Easter treat.

P.S: Check out how great this hot chocolate was! They even added some of the leftover melted chocolate to add a bit of indulgence to it.

School Admissions - My Experience 1 Year On.

This time last year was one of the most important times of our parenting lives. We found out what school Max was going to. Whilst the admissions process had been pain free, we were on edge as we hadn't put our catchment school as our first choice.

Max had grown up in nursery and preschool with his best friend and we wanted them to be together, so we applied for his catchment school. One road separates us and the catchment area, so we thought we had a chance.

Unfortunately when the day came and we opened the email telling us where he was to go, it wasn't the choice we wanted. It was the biggest school in the area, the one where there would be double the amount of kids in a year than the school we wanted him to go to.

We called up our first choice and asked what the chances of getting him in were. When they said slim to none I knew there was not much hope. Finding that siblings and catchment kids didn't even get spots made me focus on the positives of the school that we were given.

We headed to a welcome evening and met the teachers and the classrooms. Everything seemed really nice, they were expanding parts of the school and there was lots going on. We could walk to the school and still have the chance to meet up with our friends after school.

Once Max started I was worried I wouldn't make any mum friends. Fortunately Max did that for me, on the first day he met a handful of kids and to this day they are his gang, his best mates and the mums are amazing. Breathing a sigh of relief, I can honestly say these mums are friends for life. They are always there for a coffee and a natter, a trip to the park and a much needed night out.

After nearly a full year at his school I can safely say we made the best choice. Max is thriving, he's made friends and learnt so many new things. He's in a place where he loves and I can honestly say I love the school and Max has so much one on one time with the staff, despite the fact it's the biggest in the area.

To all the parents awaiting their school I just want to let you know, if you don't get your first choice then don't worry. Take a deep breath and weigh up your options. The school further down on your list might just be the right one for you. You never know until you give it a try. At the end of the day you know what's best for your child. But you won't know what a school is like until you are there.

Pop Factor - Lighthouse Poole

Last week we were invited to the Lighthouse, Poole to see Pop Factor the Concert. Max is a massive music fan and has been to a fair share of festivals and concerts in his time, so this was right up his street.

Pop Factor the Concert is a stage show that celebrates the best pop music at the moment. It's full of high energy and fun to keep every adult and child alike entertained. Featuring songs from artists such as Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, there's a song that everyone will love. Even the most reluctant of fans will end up with their feet tapping and singing along (yes Scott, I'm looking at you!).

For most children this was probably their first concert experience and I can't fault the experience. Each section was split into one or two songs, with breaks and chats to introduce different songs. They encouraged the kids to come close to the stage, get up and dance and basically have as much fun as they wanted. Max absolutely loved dancing in his seat and getting me and Scott to join him!

From the moment they came on stage to the moment the cast left, they didn't stop engaging with the audience. From running through the audience to calling people up on stage, they really took their time to get to know the place and people they were performing to.

One thing I really loved was the social media interaction. During the interval they had a selfie frame where kids had the chance to capture their excitement. You are encouraged to tweet and facebook them for shoutouts during the show, which we did and Max absolutely loved the cast saying hello to him.

After the show they met the kids and offered to take photos and sign posters in the foyer. This was a really nice touch as obviously for some kids, this was their first experience of a music concert. The cast took their time to talk and spend time with the kids, making sure they enjoyed their time. Max loved having the chance to chat and tell them how much he loved it. He's still got his posted on the wall next to his bed!
Thank you Lighthouse and Pop Factor for giving us an awesome night out. Pop Factor is touring the UK at the moment so don't miss it!

An Easter Break with Saltrock

Saltrock is proving to be one of our favourite clothing brands at the moment. Not only are they producing amazing quality clothing, but the prices also make them hard to beat (not that we would want to anyway!). So when they offered to send us a couple of their new bits we jumped at the chance to expand our wardrobes, well the boys did!

Max is always in need of new jumpers. They always seem to end up stained or snagged from climbing trees and running through the forest so this Bubble Pop-Over Hoody was perfect for him. I love the bright colours as it means I won't be losing him in a hurry at soft play or in the forest. But it's also lightweight yet warm which is perfect for the spring months as we are constantly layering up with the temperamental weather.

Max is obsessed with the massive pocket at the front which is great for storing everything from hidden snacks Nanny has given him to pine cones and twigs to create a new masterpiece.

He was also sent this gorgeous knit hat. Max has always been reluctant to wear hats until recently but has started to embrace them and team them with any outfit he can. In his words they make him look "super cool", which I can't really complain with! It's made of a really soft knit with Salt and Rock knitted into it. Max loves the colours, which remind him of one of his favourite NFL teams so he's pretty chuffed. It's a great fit and will be perfect for festival weather when it starts to cool down in the evenings.

Scott was sent a couple of tops too, both of which he is really impressed with. He opted for both the Trading Co tshirt and the Lantern Tshirt. Scott can be pretty picky with his tops at times, they have to be made of good material and withstand playing with Max. Both of which have worked really well. They are made of really soft cotton that isn't too thin that they will fall apart after a few washes. Being true to size the tops fit really well and look great on him (if I do say so myself!).

The prints are both bold and stylish and really embody the sea element that Saltrock is all about. He's had so many compliments about the top's that he's already browsing to see what else he can buy! In his words they are "The comfiest tops I've owned, I definitely know what I'm adding to my Christmas list".

Saltrock has yet again shown us how great clothing can be produced yet still remain affordable. Thank you Saltrock for gifting us these amazing clothes that are most definitely wardrobe staples now!

Day Out With Thomas at the Watercress Line

Max, along with most other kids, is obsessed with trains. Whenever we get the chance to take a train ride he jumps for joy and relishes in the fun of sitting and watching the world go by at high speed. He's also obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. Thomas is one of those characters that everyone loves, he seems to have been one of the few characters to come out of the tv revival with the same amount of love.

When the folks over at the Watercress Line invited us to their Day Out With Thomas we couldn't wait! A day immersing ourselves with the wonders of steam trains and Thomas is an offer we couldn't refuse.

Getting there was really easy, we used our satnav but it was well signposted all the way to Ropley. The Watercress Line is spread over 4 separate stations where you can travel from one station to another and explore the wonders that are on offer. When it comes to a Day out with Thomas, you have a different activity at each station.

As soon as we walked through the entrance we were transported back to the age of steam, with period features and bunting flying you felt transported to a different decade. I loved that the stations were so authentic as it really added to the feel of the day.

Once we had got our bearing and looked at the map, we decided to go and find the Fat Controller and Thomas himself. Max was so chuffed as soon as he saw Thomas fly into the station that he was fit to burst. We were able to hop on board one of Thomas' carriages and have a quick trip from the man himself, we were all pretty excited by that point. We then jumped on Diesel and had a ride with him to make sure he wasn't left out! We had a quick go on the fairground rides that were there and then jumped on the steam train to Alresford.

At Alresford there was a wealth of things to do. We got off and were greeted by a friendly station guard who pointed us in the direction of Iron 'Arry who needed help. Adults and kids were able to go into the driver's cab and take turns in blowing the whistle and pressing buttons on the short journey in and out of the station. Max was bursting with pride and wouldn't stop talking about it on our way to the Imagination Station. This was a building full of Thomas related things to do. Max dove straight into the colouring and hung his bunting up pride of place.

We took a picnic with us meaning we could eat on one of the trains or find an area to eat. Fortunately the weather was perfect so as we headed to the next station we had a bit of a nibble on the train. Max absolutely loves watching the world race by on trains so this was a perfect day for him.

I love that the Watercress Line spread everything out over different stations, it meant that even though it was a busy day, it didn't feel busy as we could just hop on to the next place. There were so many things to do that we were there for the majority of the day and didn't want to leave. I was really impressed at how great the staff were with kids, there were plenty of baby change places and buggy parks that it was really tailored for kids.

We absolutely loved our time at the Watercress Line, getting to mingle with Thomas and the gang was the perfect Easter treat for our little trainspotter. A Day Out With Thomas is something they run pretty regularly, and it's the perfect way to spend a nice day. I love that in the price of the ticket you get the choice to go on as many steam trains as you want. You can really make a full day of it.

Thank you so much Watercress Line and Thomas for inviting us to spend a day with you, it's one we won't be forgetting!

My DIY Disasters

I am a DIY optimist. I am always buying something in the hope that I can fix it up to make it look better or repurpose it into something different. Take note of the optimist bit though, as nothing ever really goes to plan. I'm pretty nifty when it comes to a sewing machine and have made everything from a play tent to cushions for Max. But when it comes to hammers and nails I'm a bit of a disaster.

Some things work really well, like this DIY art display I made from bits I found around the house. It's something that we use on a weekly basis and hasn't fallen down. And the DIY dog house for Max's soft toy that lasted a good 6 months before it collapsed on me. Give me fabric or cardboard and I'm fine. But anything else and it's definitely a bad idea!

I normally set out with the best intentions for big DIY projects. We don't have much space in our flat so my main aim was to try and find a way to maximise that space. Max was desperate for some book storage and he has a floor to ceiling window that I wanted to introduce a bit of privacy too. Cue the bookcase bench idea, something similar to the pin below.

I measured between the windows and found a bookcase that fit almost exactly that was for sale on a local selling site. I got it home, rubbed it down and started painting it a bright white. I hit a snag when the paint wasn't applying as good as I hoped it would. I assumed it was because it was coated chipboard and it's not the best surface to paint on. All was going well until I had a brainwave. Instead of popping it on legs (it was quite a heavy unit) I would just pop it on the floor. I got Scott to move it into the bedroom to put down and it didn't fit. After all the perfect measuring and triple checking, I forgot to account for the skirting boards. Even with legs on the unit, it wouldn't fit. I just hadn't measured the unit properly at all. And to make matters worse, I had a badly painted bookcase and paint everywhere. I wish I had taken a photo but at the time I was way too mortified that I'd so badly failed.

Fortunately I managed to sell the unit to someone that wanted it and assured me they were painting it a different colour. I couldn't have cut off an edge as the chipboard was the wrong type of wood to cut through. In the end I spent some money and invested in a toy box/ottoman like the ones from Oak Furniture and I'm in the process of topping it with a cushion so Max can sit and read on it.

As I said before, give me a sewing machine and I can make anything. Give me a hammer and nails and I think you might need to have a backup plan! I don't think I'm cut out for big DIY projects just yet.
