Peter Rabbit Movie Review

Peter Rabbit is a character that brings fond memories from my childhood. From reading the books with my mum and loving the adventures that he went on, to reading it to myself under the bed covers with a torch to keep the love of literature alive. It's the first series of books I remember being obsessed with and I love the fact that since reading them to Max, he's also fallen in love with them too. He tends to read one a night (at least) and loves the way that Peter and his siblings are mischievous and give him ideas for playing tricks on people!

So when we heard that this family favourite was going to be a film, we couldn't wait to see it. Unfortunately it left the cinema before we could watch it, but the lovely folk over at Sony Pictures and Cine Mini sent us a lovely package to celebrate the DVD release.

The Great Brick Adventure

I don't know one child that isn't obsessed with Lego. The concept of how a small brick can make anything you imagine has kept Max busy for more hours than I can count. Bright Bricks are a company that have made a name for themselves by creating giant Lego sculptures that will leave you in awe of how they have even managed to create something like that.

They currently have an exhibition on at the Bournemouth International Centre called the Great Brick Adventure so we popped down on opening day to have a look!

Explorer: Space at Winchester Science Centre

Max is like a sponge when it comes to learning new information. The more he can learn, the happier he is. And he loves the opportunity to get stuck in and try things out himself. It's why we love the Winchester Science Centre so much, there always seems something new to do and this summer is no different.

With a new area called Explorer: Space, it seemed the perfect reason to pop over for a visit and we took some friends with us to experience the day and become astronauts too!

Getting Ready For Summer Festivals

This summer we are off to a fair few festivals. With Camp Bestival to kick off and Victorious to end. Over the years I have worked out that overpacking for a festival is a massive no-no. With tonnes to carry, I seemed to have worked out a refined list of must have items that I can take to any festival.

I thought I would share some of my favourites with you to give you some inspiration and help you fill your rucksack for a day at a festival!

Hollywood Bowl - A Brilliant Night Out

Max absolutely loves bowling, but it's something that we never seem to get around to doing very often. So when Emma over at the fantastic Bournemouth Bloggers invited us and some other mums and kids to enjoy a game at Hollywood Bowl, we couldn't wait to get stuck in!

Why Mummy Swears - Gill Sims Review

Why Mummy Drinks was one of my favourite books of last year. I spent the whole time laughing and relating to the story of Ellen and her delightful children Peter and Jane so much that I essentially forced all my friends to read it! So when I found out that the July Mumsnet Book Club book was going to be the follow up, Why Mummy Swears, I couldn't wait to get stuck in! And stuck in I did, in fact, I barely even put it down.

Now Or Never - Circa Tsuica Review

We are huge fans of the creativity that comes with seeing a circus. Each time we go and see one, we see something that is wonderful and amazing and takes our breath away. Now or Never by Circa Tsuica was certainly a circus that we won't be forgetting!

Summer At Weymouth Sea Life

We absolutely love heading to the Weymouth Sea Life and Adventure Park, it's a little be of wonder and amazement tucked around the corner from us. And now we are annual pass holders, we want to go as much as possible. So with the sun shining, we decided to jump in the car and head down for a few hours to have a bit of fun!

June Reads: Exciting Events

June was a month of travelling. I felt like I spent more time commuting to places than I did sitting down. But whilst I normally sit and read whilst I'm travelling, with Max in tow or when I was driving, those plans were out the window. Instead I decided that I would start going to bed earlier and setting myself a regular lunch during the day so I could focus.

One highlight of my month was heading to the HarperCollins Big Book 18 event, an event set to show booksellers and influencers what the top upcoming titles are. I've already started reading some of the haul I brought home, and I'm loving some of the stuff out soon!
