Little Dish British Lamb Hotpot.

As I've written before, I love Little Dish. Full of 100% natural ingredients, these dishes are perfect for the little ones in your life at dinner time. Not only do they all contain at least one of your five a day they are also the only ready meal that my little boy will actually eat!

To coincide with a little prince's first birthday, Little Dish have created a new dish called British Lamb Hotpot to celebrate with him. Included is 2 portions of veg, yummy lamb mince and sliced potatoes.

As with all Little Dish meals there is a fab colouring in sheet on the inside of the cardboard sleeve. Perfect for them to scribble on when their meal is in the microwave. Max has a prince and princess week at preschool this week so this was perfect to get into the royal spirit of things.

There is also some great information for parents, filling you in on all you need to know about Little Dish and also the great charity Kid's Company that they are working with. Proceeds from each meal goes to the charity to help provide hot meals for those UK children that would otherwise go without.

The meal itself is jam packed full of flavour, similar to what I would make at home. It's great to get Max to try new things which I wouldn't normally cook for dinner. He wolfs it all down as it's got all his favourite things in and just as yummy as mummys!

Little Dish meals can be found in the chilled section of most supermarkets and on Ocado priced for £2.50 each.

House Of Fraser - Children's Perfect Party

Max is a complete rocker. It might be something to do with the abundance of gigs and festivals I attended when pregnant (I'll tell him about going into labour at a Gallows gig in the future!) or it might be that we have brought him up listening to our favourites. Shunning the nursery rhymes for Mcfly in the car.

So when House Of Fraser approached us to style an outfit for our perfect party we knew exactly what Max would pick. A festival party. Complete with instruments and a mini stage so he can perform to his hearts content. Not to mention twinkly lights and a mass of mud!

When we received the clothes Max was so excited he put them on straight away, shouting that his boots were just like mummy's and his polo was like a school top (sob- not ready for that moment). We teamed it all with a massive pair of sunglasses and went out to do a performance for the neighbours complete with microphone, guitar and ukulele. They loved it obviously.

We loved Max's performance and can't wait until it's his birthday and we can make his dream a reality (may be look at hiring out a hall with a stage!). In the meanwhile this is a sure fire party outfit. Wellys that are perfect for the ever changing weather and clothes that are lightweight and smart for any occasion.

House Of Fraser have a whole host of different outfits for the whole family. What would you pick?

Butlins Tips for Families.

Alas this is my final post as a Butlins Ambassador. We loved our holiday and can't wait until we can book again and return! For my final post I am going to give you a few tips we learnt from preparing and going on our holiday so a few of you don't miss out on anything.

Before Your Holiday
  • If you are going during a school holiday, book your adrenaline passes well in advance, these are there to give you guaranteed access to the paid for activities on site. This is great for the older kids that don't particularly want to see the shows aimed at the preschoolers.
  • Same advice goes for the B-Line passes. These allow you early entry into the centre stage which can get really busy at peak times before the shows. Giving yourself that bit of extra time allows you to settle down before the crowds descend.
  • Download the Butlins App. This shows you what is going on during your stay, a site map and any contact information you may need. We used it to give us a rough idea about what we wanted to see, when it was happening and remind us throughout the holiday of the moments we didn't want to forget.

During Your Holiday
  • Don't rush to see the kid's shows immediately. Most of them are repeated again later in the week so take your time to enjoy your break!
  • If you have a dining plan book your meals as soon as you get there, the popular time slots get booked up fast and you don't want to miss out.
  • Most of the hotels have dedicated swimming times where you can go and swim for an hour before the rest of the resort joins you. This is great for the smaller members of the family.
  • Know the closing times of things such as the funfair, tots fair, soft play and Scoop. These close at around 5:00 each day so it's best to know to save any disappointment.
  • Book any character theatre tickets as soon as you get there. These shows are magical and well worth the cost of the tickets.
  • If you want to attend any of the meet and greets with any characters then it's wise to get someone in the party to start queuing about 15-20 minutes before it happens (right next to the skyline stage) as it can get really busy and the time is limited.

  • Don't forget things such as Tots Soccer, these have experienced professionals teaching and gets the kids and parents involved together. It's a great time to step away from the hustle and bustle of the Skyline.
  • We booked early dinners and went back to the hotel after to prep for the evening, this meant filling our bag with a blanket for Max and popping him in some trackie bottoms and a tshirt. We also took the buggy so he could relax in it at the Centre Stage when the evening events were on and potentially fall asleep.
  • The cheapest souvenir we found was the Butlins egg cup which is part of the dessert at the Diner. It's a great talking piece and brings back loads of memories for Max when we serve him dippy egg and soldiers.
  • Don't forget to take a photo on the giant Butlins deck chair! You'll regret it if you don't.
  • Finally take photos, smile, laugh and enjoy yourself. You are on holiday and the Butlins staff are there to make sure it's one you never forget!

My Other Butlins Ambassadors Posts:

BritMums Live - First Timer Thoughts.

When I bought my ticket this time last year for BritMums Live I had no idea what to expect. In all honesty I wanted to go to meet some of my blogger friends, have some time away from the boys to be myself and chat with a few brands. Never did I know I would learn so much in such a short amount of time about not only my blog by myself.

I'm normally a shy and reserved person. It might not seem that way online as I have a screen in front of me and can generally make any situation funny with my stupidity, but in reality I'm shy and self conscious. I went into this not knowing what to really expect and how I was going to say hi to all those bloggers I really loved!

I headed down on the Thursday to meet up with Abi who I run #pbloggers with. The alcohol flowed, the chat didn't stop and after drinking a considerable amount and wolfing down pizza we crashed in bed at 1am.

Friday we woke up bright and early, got ready and headed to Starbucks for some brekkie. When we got back we found a lovely Irish blogger stranded in the hotel reception as she was too early for check in so we took her up to our room (along with some others later in the day!) to rest before registration started at 2. In that time I sped over to Waterloo to meet Helen, my blog twin (she blogs at Mummy to the Max!). Then we went to registration...

The People
Let's just say that I met so many amazing people that I don't think I can even list them all! Notably the wonderful Helen, Abi, Kerry, James, Lotte, Michelle, Vikki, Kara (both of them!), Hannah, Kirsty and Clara. It was lovely to catch up with local bloggers whilst meeting those that live just that bit too far away to see as much as most of us would like.
Bloggers are a strange type. We spend most of our time in front of computer screens or camera lenses for a hobby or living so when so many of us come together it's a mass of selfies and 'OH MY GOD I RECOGNISE YOU FROM INSTAGRAM'. We are such a diverse range that even chatting over drinks at the hotel bar left me with learning new things that I never imagined to. To all those I met, thank you for being so lovely, thank you for being kind and all of you are fabulous.

The Workshops/Talks
Looking at the timetable there was so much to choose each day. Every morning started out with a wonderful keynote to inspire us. We were all roaring with laughter from Emma Freud and sobbing with Benjamin Brooks-Dutton. Both these people gave an amazing insight into the power that blogging can do. Whether that be to help charities, help people or just give a voice to someone that wouldn't normally be able to. I left feeling full of bright ideas and a new found confidence.

Beyond that I attended a talk by Lucy of Capture by Lucy where she explained all about blog design and how to make everything look gorgeous. I left wanting to reconsider my blog design and tweak bits here and there. Especially as I'm in the middle of designing my photography website.

The Pinterest talk left me knowing the best ways to use it with my blog, how to do things that I didn't even know you could do and how to actually gain traffic from there. I'm one of those people that use it for that wedding of their dreams.

Etsy did a great talk about affiliate marketing, whilst they have spoken with me before about affiliate schemes I didn't really know what the benefits could be (not too sure though that some of the things that were said were 100% correct from the blogger they brought with them).

I learnt all about the power of food styling. It's something that I know I need to up my game in photography wise. I'm great with people but still life has always either bored me or I'm too hungry to take photos. Learning the tips and tricks I did will hopefully bring those recipes to life that I'm trying to put on here!

As well as learning loads I spoke with many amazing brands. I got to speak to the lovely James from Butlins all about my amazing break. May have bored him by going on about how much we loved it (we really did!) and how much we would love to be picked again (we would very much so!) and I picked up one of the famous personalised Coke bottles that I cant bring myself to drink.

BritMums was an experience that I loved to pieces. I came out of my little, shy shell and spent so much time chatting and having fun with people that the goodbyes were so sad and honestly I'm considering buying my ticket for next year. In the meanwhile I'm going to try and up my game with attending things, work on my content and blog, find my voice again a bit and take on board everything that inspired me to be the best blogger I can. Thank you BritMums for an amazing weekend!

The Loungers

We always love trying somewhere different to eat. Which is why we always end up picking quirky looking places. The Loungers is a chain of quirky looking cafe's and restaurants that serve amazing food all over the UK.

There are about 5 in the local area to us and even though you can now call them a chain of eateries they all have a different feel to them. Each one is decked out in 70's wallpaper, mis matched chairs and tables that don't seem to go together to create a home away from home. Boxes of games for the kids and enough space to relax makes this one of our favourite food destinations.

The menus include everything from all day brunch to gorgeous hot dogs and tapas. Something to suit everyones tastes. The children's menu is no different. Things like deconstructed burgers and yummy mac and cheese make sure they are satisfied too. For Father's Day Scott decided to go for the Rhode Island hot dog, full of home cooked chilli and mustard for a bit of a kick. He loved it. I went for something a bit simpler and Max devoured the kid's burger. The kid's food also comes with a free smoothie so you know the kid's are getting one of the five a day.

Freshly squeezed orange juice (you can see the giant juicer working away) and craft beers mean that there is something for everyone on the menu drinks wise and by the end of it we were so full we had to have a bit of a rest.

Of course we had to pick up a dessert though. Scott going for the sticky toffee pudding which was the best he had tasted and Max going for the ice cream sundae which resulted in him licking the bowl. I went for the salted caramel bubble bar, full of chocolate, biscuit and caramel it was a small bar with a big amount of flavour. I had to take some of it home!

There are loads of lounges across the UK. So pop over to the site, find your local and have a great time relaxing this summer.

Here Come The Dinosaurs at Marwell Zoo!

Marwell has been taken over! And not by animals. But dinosaurs! This summer the prehistoric creatures have invaded all the corners of Marwell.

When we were at the Sunset party we got a first peek at these amazing creatures. Not only are they giant and realistic looking, they are also animatronic and move about, roar and even spray water at unsuspecting people.

There is a great dinosaur trail that allows the children to run around the park ticking off the dinosaurs that they find. This is a great break from staring at animals and makes the day at Marwell a whole lot longer.

Part way down there is a cool deconstructed dino with buttons that allow the children (and big kids) to play moving the dinos themselves showing you how these magnificent creatures have come to life.

The creme de la creme? The giant T-Rex at the back of the zoo. First you hear it, then you see it creeping between the trees. Finally you see it standing as tall as a two storey house looming at you. It transports you to Jurassic Park and you have to double take if you should run of stare in awe.

This summer Marwell is definitely a place to go, you get a lot of attractions for your money and an amazing day out.

Father's Day

This year for Father's Day Scott wanted to do something different. So we grabbed a net, bucket and line, bundled into the car and headed to Keyhaven for a bit of crabbing. To be honest it isn't my cup of tea but Scott and Max had a barrel of laughs and I loved helping Max throw the line over the bridge. Before we got there we asked how many crabs Max wanted to catch, when he informed up he wanted 3 we had to stay until we caught all 3 of them! It was great to show him how crabs scuttle back into the water and how using a bait (in a net bag) can lure them in.

Marwell's Sunset Party In The Park

We were invited to Marwell Zoo last week to attend their sunset party in the park. A celebration of summer hitting with late night entertainment and animals out late in the evening. We love Marwell so couldn't wait to get down there and experience it at sunset.

Alongside the awesome animals that you could go and see, there were also loads of activities for families to take part in. A group of fire jugglers amazed us all by eating and dancing with fire. Max was awestruck and it took us a while to remind him not to try it at home!

There was a selection of music, from a steel band as you entered to a stilt walking band nestled next to the massive house. An array of inflatable obstacle courses gave parents five minutes to try some wine.

Finally there were a few giant creatures roaming around the park. Penguins that had been on holiday and pigeons that pecked unsuspecting passers by made kids shriek with glee.

It truly was a magical night that we won't forget in a hurry.

Oh not to mention all the dinosaurs that seem to have taken over. But that's for the next post!

Butlins On Site Fun and Games

When you get to Butlins there is something magical about the fact you can go on pretty much anything for free. Knowing that the fairground, tots fairground and soft plays are all included means you end up getting so dizzy from spinning around you don't know where you are facing!

When we came in September, Max was just a bit too small to go on any of the outdoor rides apart from the carousel. So this year he was ready and raring to go, having grown those few centimetres that set him just over the 0.9m for the majority of things! I am a wimp. I hate anything that gives you an adrenaline rush and the carousel was plenty exhilarating for me. So whilst the boys went wild on the fairground I sat and decided what we would do for the rest of the day.

When the weather turned sour we headed indoors for fun on the tots fairground. Again this is included in your price and perfect for those mini adrenaline junkies. Max loved jumping on these rides on his own whilst we watched on. It was perfect inbetween shows at the Skyline Pavilion as he's not got the greatest attention span. It did get really busy but the guys running the rides were great with making sure kids went to the right parents and queues were formed correctly.

Alongside all the fun fair rides there are many activities such as football classes and other activity session. Most of the activities are aimed at the older kids so we took Max to one session of football. Not holding out much hope for him as he prefers to run with the ball (American Football) he actually did surprisingly well and copied most of the tasks. The guy running it did an amazing job at capturing the attention of loads of kids and the dad's had a great time making sure that the kid's did as they were told (whilst showing off!).

There is also an abundance of play area's for the kids. Inside the Skyline there are two soft plays. One for the toddlers and another for kids over a metre. This was manned by an attendant who made sure no kids ran away and they were the right height to go in there.

Outside there is a small sand and water area near the Shoreline Hotel. We only ventured there once as it felt quite out of the way and fairly busy all the time. There is a bigger wooden play area outside the Beachcomber pub which has a small gate for entry and loads of slides and levels for the children to explore whilst you are sat enjoying a drink or two.

Beyond the shows there are still loads of things for the children and parents to enjoy, we were never short of things to do on this holiday. And considering most other places charge you for soft plays etc, it's amazing to think it's all included in the cost!
